Xmas Event
The Xmas Event, introduced in December of 2023, (presumably) occurs during December of each year. It offers an exclusive XMas dragon, as well as opportunities to acquire other special dragons.
Santa Claus’s Present
Santa requires two dragons to produce a gift. It takes six hours to occur, and at the end of the six hours, you will receive a single G1 dragon. This process can be sped up by 2 hours by watching an ad, up to a maximum of three times per day. It can be completed instantly by spending Diamonds. The number of diamonds required is initially 50, but can go down to 25 after repeated use.
The Generation 1 dragon you receive can be of the following species:
- Xmas Dragon (20% Chance)
- “Mystery Egg” (Random Selection from a List) (Variable Chance)
- The same species as the dragons you’ve selected (Variable Chance)
The dragons used to produce the gift cannot be used while they are in the process of producing the gift. They cannot:
- (if still in growth) Grow
- Be Abandoned
- Be Ascended
Additionally, any in-growth dragon selected will have its care reduced. Though, it will remain in the incubator.
Any dragon obtained from Santa’s Gift can be placed into a special, fast growth brooder. They also have a chance to have the Affable or Christmas personality, which will be shown when the egg is first revealed. The personality will also appear as the dragon’s “Potential Personality.”
Some dragons cannot be used for Santa’s Gift. This includes:
- Card Codes
- Wanderer Exclusives
- Help Request Dragons
- Event Exclusive Dragons
- Dragons Obtained via Special Action (i.e. Lady)
- Paid Dragons
- Bond Dragons
- Evria Exclusives
- Underground Castle Dragons
- Gap of Chaos Dragons
- Mileage Point Shop Dragons
- Album Score Reward Dragons
- Colosseum Obtained Dragons
Dragons will continue to grow in Santa’s Gift once the “Egg Ok” action has been completed, even if the dragon has not been received.
G1 Hybrids
The only current, intended way to obtain pure lineage personalities on hybrid species is through the Santa’s Present mechanic. This enables hybrid species to be obtained as first generation dragons, and further be bred as pure.
Exclusive Dragons
The Xmas dragon is exclusive to the Xmas event. It has three forms (Carol of Light, Silent Night, Star Tree) which are more common at different times of day or on specific dates.
The Carol of Light appearance must be completed in the dragon book to receive the Xmas dragon badge.
Exclusive Personality
The exclusive personalities for the XMas event are Christmas and Affable. These personalities can appear on dragons received from Santa’s Gift, or can be obtained as an item after completing 20 Santa’s Gifts.
Dragons received from Santa’s gift that have a special personality will reveal this personality upon emerging from the gift. It will also appear as their “Potential Personality” in the training tab.
The use of Lunera or a Moonlight Gem on a dragon with the exclusive personality will erase the special personality from the dragon.
Brooders
XMas event brooders can only be used by dragons received via Santa’s Gift. Up to five brooders can be used at a time. When a dragon within the brooder becomes an adult, the brooder is returned and can be used again.
Dragons within Santa’s Brooders grow exceptionally fast. It is possible for a dragon to become an adult in under 24 hours, which is even faster than the instant growth pill (Which can be 8 hours per stage).
Special actions, such as Cuddle, can still be used on a dragon in the brooder.
Harmonious Christmas
Dragons that cannot normally breed are able to breed during this event. This includes:
- Event Dragons (Such as Sullae)
- Dragons prevented from breeding with specific types
- Dragons prevented from breeding with specific species (i.e. Hell x Hell)
- Dragons prevented from breeding entirely (i.e. Azak)
This mechanic is functionally unrelated to the Santa Claus’s Present feature.
Shop
For every 20 times Santa’s gift has been opened, one item can be received from the shop. Available are:
- Male Carol of Light Xmas
- Female Carol of Light Xmas
- Male Silent Night Xmas
- Female Silent Night Xmas
- Affable Moon Piece
- Christmas Moon Piece
The game continues to count how many presents you’ve opened beyond 20, and as such it is possible to purchase multiple items from the shop at once.
Trivia
- For a short time, dragons originally in Santa’s Brooder that were traded or sent to shelter retained the growth boost from Santa’s Brooder while in a regular nurture slot.
- The first XMas event was the first time White Applecheeks were obtainable legitimately in game.
